Mental Health Classrooms
Sometimes childhood is hard–especially with mental illness. Children with mental illness can suffer greatly in school. It’s hard to be different when you’re young and when the underlying issue is serious it’s even harder.
To help kids that just needed help transitioning back into the regular day at school, the Mental Health Foundation created two Mental Health Classrooms in 2008. One was in a public junior high school and the other in separate elementary school.
Through the support of medical professionals and dedicated teachers, many children are returning to regular classrooms.

Challenge by Choice Centre
Currently housed in the downtown YWCA, the Challenge by Choice Centre for Youth was created to give youth aged 16 to 24 a chance to have their voices heard.
By providing a dedicated space for youth to spend time with peers, talk to other kids with the same issues and to know they are not alone with their issues, the Challenge by Choice Centre allows youth the opportunity to learn positive life skills in a safe environment.

Addiction and Mental Health - Edmonton Zone - Program Support
The Addiction and Mental Health - Edmonton Zone Program is often overburdened. With rising depression and anxiety rates and overstressed healthcare systems, it is often difficult to fund prevention and quality of life initiatives.
In order to help the Addiction and Mental Health - Edmonton Zone Program, the Mental Health Foundation has donated funds for:
The Suicide Prevention Program- provided funding for informational pieces, such as posters, cards, and brochures.
Alberta Hospital Edmonton- providing computers and equipment, training and program support to enhance the quality of life for patients.
The Out of the Shadows Art Program
The Out of the Shadows Art Program assists those with mental health issues in their recovery by teaching and identifying artistic talent and abilities. The program was started in 1994 and provides an opportunity for artists to create, showcase and sell their paintings.
