Online Crisis Support - live crisis chat is a safe one-on-one conversation with a Support Team Member; it's 100% confidential and anonymous. Caregiver Support - provides support when you care about someone who has attempted suicide or feels suicidal. Distress Line - the Distress Line at any hour of any day. 780.482.4357 or 211 Seniors' Abuse - support for seniors experiencing abuse, or if you suspect a senior you know is being abused. 780.454-8888 Suicide Bereavement - support for those who are dealing with a loss through the support and understanding of others. Language and Culture
Aboriginal Cultural Helper Emil Durocher's role includes spiritual-cultural duties and facilitating learning. He will assist in meeting the cultural needs of patients/clients and their families; support Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal patients/clients who are seeking guidance from traditional Elders; and will facilitate requests for ceremony made through protocol. His 108th Street office phone is 342-7612. His AHE office is in 9 Building, across from Central Service Office, phone 342-5647.
Aboriginal Care Coordinator Elsey Gauthier, BSW, Aboriginal Care Coordinator, provides support for all of the Inpatient Programs. Her role advances our service principle of providing person-centered care by strengthening and focusing our discharge practices with our Aboriginal clients and their home communities. Elsey’s “home base” is Alberta Hospital Edmonton, in Room 125– 10 Building, phone 342-5262. She is available as a resource to any of our inpatient units when Aboriginal people are admitted, to work with physicians and staff, patients and their communities as a key member of the discharge planning team.
